Ladysmith Chief Instructor

SHAKU Family Martial Arts founder and  Ladysmith Chief Instructor is Sifu Cathal Walsh.

Sifu Cathal Walsh is an accomplished martial arts instructor, having achieved a 5th degree Black Belt (Master) in the art of Shaolin Kempo Kung-Fu. He has been a Bronze and Silver Medallist at the Tiger Balm Internationals, the Western Canadian Martial Arts Championships and (in 2006) at the World Martial Arts Games.

Sifu Cathal's teaching and  leadership skills have been further developed through twenty years experience working as a teacher and principal in elementary and middle schools and also serving as a Provincial Standards Coordinator for the BC Ministry of Education. Sifu Cathal's published material in the areas of personal safety, bullying prevention, martial arts instructional methods, leadership and martial arts curriculum are actively used by martial arts schools acroos Canada as well as in numerous public and Independent schools.
