Leadership

CO-FOUNDER: Sifu Cathal Walsh

Sifu Cathal Walsh is an accomplished martial arts instructor, having achieved a 5th degree Black Belt (Master) in the art of Shaolin Kempo. He has over ten years of experience operating one of Canada’s most successful family martial arts schools. In a town of only 17 000 people, Sifu Cathal maintained a 300 active student count school for three consecutive years before selling his school in 2008 to focus on his dream of supporting a coast to coast family of martial arts schools. His leadership has been further developed through fifteen years experience working as a teacher and principal in elementary and middle schools in British Columbia, also serving as a Provincial Standards Coordinator for the BC Ministry of Education.

His passion for martial arts and education put Sifu Cathal on a quest to refine and develop the "best way possible" to operate a successful martial arts school that would provide children and families access to the wide range of benefits that the martial arts has to offer, while maintaining the integrity of the martial arts through high standards for student discipline, knowledge, and skills. Over the years Sifu Cathal has mentored other martial arts school owners on how to duplicate his successes.

A cornerstone of Sifu Cathal's philosophy has been has been the recognition that schools require proven systems and structure in order to be successful. He has spent over ten years developing, refining and validating the SHAKU school model.
