Masters Program

SHAKU’s Masters Program is reserved for students seeking to train beyond Black Belt.  Masters level studies include Shaolin Kung-Fu, Jeet Kune-Do, Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, and extensive martial arts theory and philosophy.  Students must first achieve the rank of Conditional Black Belt before seeking nomination for entrance to the Masters Program.

Each student enrolled in the Masters Program has the opportunity to develop higher level skills in the Shaolin Methods, including five animal forms and combative applications of form movements and weapons.  The Masters' curriculum also includes advanced training in Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu, Jeet Kune-Do and Balintawak Excrima.  

Advancement in this program is measured by both Degrees and Sashes.  

A student's 1st Degree is awarded after twelve months of dedicated training after receiving Black Belt.  Subsequent Degrees are awarded at two year intervals.  Oral testing on the Masters' Program required readings occur at each Degree examination.  

Sashes may be awarded at five year increments of sustained and dedicated training and continued promotion of the art after Black Belt.  The colours of the sashes correspond to the cycles of nature and the maturity of the martial artist.

Green Sash - Spring.  The start of a new beginning.  Ability to become a Black Belt.

Blue Sash - Summer.  The Master Teacher.  Helps  others to become Black Belts.

Red Sash - Autumn.  Accomplished Master. Helps others to become Master Teachers.

White Sash - Winter.  Maturity and wisdom of a Grand Master.
